BILSTEIN Shock Absorbers has introduced its new Dirt Late Model 6th Coil Shock Absorber, engineered to improve consistency and control during off-throttle and braking transitions. Built specifically for the modern Dirt Late Model chassis, the new system was designed to help deliver smoother, more repeatable suspension operation during corner entry.

As suspension travel and driveline forces continue to increase, traditional 6th coil designs can become inconsistent during acceleration-to-deceleration transitions. These traditional designs operate using a single bearing support point, allowing side loads to be introduced as the torque arm rotates, reducing consistency and changing the feel of the car under braking.

The new design features a low-friction bearing system and dual-support that allows the spring to move freely and consistently during corner entry. Improved stability as the car transitions off-throttle, better front tire compliance and more controlled transfer of weight to the right-front corner are just a few of the new benefits this new AS2 6th coil offers. The result is a car that stays more balanced and predictable through changing track conditions.

The AS2 6th Coil provides up to 2.49 inches of travel, offering more tuning range. Available in 300 lbs., 350 lbs. and 400 lbs. linear rate options, the new AS2 6th coil package provides additional tuning flexibility to match setups for different track surfaces and driving styles. By reducing inconsistency within the suspension, the system also improves repeatability, helping teams make more accurate setup changes and better understand the car’s response.

For Open Motor Super Late Model applications, BILSTEIN recommends beginning with the 400 lbs. Spring option under higher grip conditions, while 300 lbs. and 350 lbs. options can improve drivability as track surfaces change throughout a race event.

The new BILSTEIN AS2 6th Coil Shock Absorber is now available through authorized BILSTEIN Motorsport dealers and distributors. For more information, visit BILSTEIN Motorsport.
